The Texas Rangers will know more on Friday, but it sure does look like the first-place team will be without Prince Fielder for the remainder of the season. He has yet another herniation in the neck, the same injury that cost him 100 games back in 2014.
Fielder wasn't having a great season prior to the injury, posting a .212. batting average with eight homers and 44 RBI. His sub .300 on-base percentage was also among the worst for regular starters in Texas.
Should Fielder miss the remainder of the season, it's highly likely that top prospect Joey Gallo will finally get extended action as a starting first baseman. We will update this story as more becomes available.
