While the Cincinnati Reds are in the midst of a season where development and opportunities for young players is more important this season than wins and losses, the team eventually had to pull the plug on Cody Reed. Now they have as it was announced on Monday that Reed had been sent down to Triple-A Louisville.
Across 10 starts this season, Reed had a 7.36 ERA, 6.06 FIP, 2.27 HR/9 and had a 1.80 WHIP. The young lefty just came off a start against the Milwaukee Brewers, where he allowed six runs in just one inning of work. The 23-year-old will now join Louisville's rotation, where he should have an easier time and can continue to develop. Cincinnati has not yet announced who will take Reed's place in the rotation.
