In what might be yet another shocking retirement around the baseball world, it is being reported that Texas Rangers first baseman Prince Fielder will announce his retirement from the game on Wednesday.

Fielder, 32, was lost for the season back in July due to a herniated disc in his neck. At that point, there was no indication that it would be career threatening. Though, surgery was reported to be necessary at that time.

Fielder, a six-time All-Star, was hitting just .212 with eight homers and 44 RBI prior to the injury. He'll finish his stellar career with 319 homers and 1,000-plus RBI.
