Detroit Tigers starter Daniel Norris was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with a trained right oblique, a day after he exited Monday's start against the Cleveland Indians in the third inning.
Norris was replaced on the active roster by pitcher Buck Farmer, who was called up from Triple-A Toledo. Farmer had made 10 starts for the Toledo Mud Hens, but is expected to work out of the bullpen until Saturday, when the Tigers will need someone to fill Norris' spot in the rotation to face the Toronto Blue Jays. Farmer's stay will be temporary, as he could be replaced by Matt Boyd on Saturday.
With the All-Star break less than a week away, the Tigers expect Norris to only miss two-to-three starts. He could return shortly after the break, so he is still worth holding onto in season-long fantasy leagues.
We will provide more updates on Norris and the Tigers' projected starting pitcher for Saturday as more information becomes available.
