When the Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Sammy Watkins on injured reserve this past week, the hope was that he might be able to return after eight weeks.
Those hopes are quickly fading. Watkins will travel to North Carolina to meet with foot specialist Robert Anderson this week. There, it will be decided if he needs another surgery on that troublesome foot. If so, Watkins will be out for the remainder of the year.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that this is likely.
