The San Diego Chargers suffered a major setback Sunday in Minnesota when running back Branden Oliver exited the game against the Vikings with a torn Achilles. Oliver will miss the entire 2016 season.
The injury-plagued Oliver played in just eight games last season, recording 108 yards on 31 attempts. That came on the heels of him racking up nearly 600 rushing yards as a rookie. He was going to be relied on as Melvin Gordon's primary backup this season. Now that this isn't the case, Gordon should see substantial action with Danny Woodhead remaining the team's receiving and red-zone back.
