Falling behind Mark Ingram and Tim Hightower on the depth chart, it appears that New Orleans Saints running back C.J. Spiller isn't going to be a part of the team's plans this season.
Spiller, a big-name free agent signing back in 2015, struggled big time in his first season with the Saints. Dealing with injuries and inconsistent play, he put up just 351 total yards and two touchdowns last year.
This has led to Spiller being a healthy inactive in the Saints' season opener against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. It's a surprising move, one that tells us New Orleans is excited about what Ingram can bring to the table as a three-down back.
