Packers Rule Out LB Clay Matthews for Week 3 against Detroit Lions

September 24th, 2016

Coming off a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers needed a turnaroudn effort in Week 3 to avoid being labeled as one of the overhyped teams from the offseason. But if Green Bay's going to win on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, they'll have to do it without linebacker Clay Matthews. Matthews was unable to practice this week with an ankle injury and as a result, will not play this week.

He'll be joined by Sam Shields, Morgan Burnett and potentially Datone Jones and Letroy Guion, making a once deep defense into a serious question mark as the Packers get ready to face Matthew Stafford.
