Amy Yang made birdie at the first playoff hole to win the playoff and collected the $285,000 first-place check in the KEB-HanaBank Championship. She had posted rounds of 67-71-69 to finish tied with Hee Kyeung Seo at nine-under par.
After making a birdie at No. 8 and a bogey at No. 11, Yang was even par through her first 14 holes on Sunday. An eagle two at the par-4 No. 15 along with a birdie on the final hole got her to three-under for the day and tied for the lead.
No. 18 was used for the playoff and Yang repeated her birdie on the par-5 while Seo could only manage a par.
Michelle Wie posted the best round of the day with a six-under par 66 and missed the playoff by just one shot.
Anna Nordqvist and Katherine Hull-Kirk shared the lead after the first two rounds, but could not keep pace with the winners. Nordqvist shot three-over par 75 on Sunday to fall to T-8. Hull-Kirk made eight bogies in her final round, shot 80 and fell to T-32.
Suzann Pettersen just missed the playoff. She began the day just one shot off the lead, posted a two-under par 70 and finished at eight-under par T-3 along with Wie and Sei Young Kim.
Six South Koreans finished inside the top-10 and there were 13 South Koreans in the top-20. Wie, Jane Park, Brittany Lincicome and Alison Walshie were the only Americans to finish in the top-20 at the KEB-HanaBank.
Last week’s winner of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, Lexi Thompson posted 71-74-70 and finished T-22.
South Korean golfing legend, Se Ri Pak finished tied for eighth at four-under par.
Na Yeon Choi finished at two-under par T-17, World No. 1 Inbee Park shot 73 ending up T-28, and former No. 1 Yani Tseng finished T-32 at one-over par.
Park, who won three major titles this season, has a commanding lead and will remain No. 1 on the Rolex Rankings. She is followed by Suzann Peterssen, Stacy Lewis and So Yeon Ryu.
The LPGA stays in the Far East and Suzann Peterssen will defend her title at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship.
