Bart Bryant Picks Up First Win on Champions Tour

Bart Bryant won the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open on Sunday. His second round 10-under par 62 gave him a comfortable lead and his even-par 72 final round was good enough to collect his first Champions Tour win.

Bryant, brother of Champions Tour player, Brad Bryant, just turned 50 last fall and this is his first year on the Champions Tour. He has five top-10 finishes and has earned $700,000. The win moves him up to No. 28 on the Charles Schwab Cup rankings.

In his 25-year career on the PGA Tour, Bryant played in over 317 events, had three wins and earned over $9 million.

Russ Cochran fired his third consecutive 67 to finish T-2 with Corey Pavin. Pavin has been playing quite well of late.

He was T-9 in the Senior Players, finished T-3 in both the U.S. Senior Open and the Senior Open Championship. He was runner-up in both his last two starts at the 3M Championship and this week at Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.

He ranks No. 8 on the Charles Schwab Cup rankings, has not missed a cut this year and has earned $878,000.

Gene Sauers and Duffy Waldorf finished T-4 at 14-under par for the three rounds.

Chien Soon Lu from China finished alone in fifth place at 13-under par.

Charles Schwab Cup leader Kenny Perry shot a four-under par 68 on Sunday to move to T-7 with John Cook and Rod Spittle.

The Champions Tour travels across the country to Seattle for the Boeing Classic. Jay Don Blake is the defending champion and Fred Couples is expected to play in his old home town.
