David Frost made a birdie putt on the second playoff hole to win the AT&T Championship in San Antonio last weekend.
Frost was tied with Charles Schwab Cup points leader Bernhard Langer after the regulation 54 holes. They both made par on the first playoff hole but Frost stuck his 160 yard approach to within 12 feet and drained the birdie putt on the second playoff hole for the win.
It was his second win this year on the Champions Tour and moved him to No. 10 on the Charles Schwab Cup points list heading into the final Champions Tour event of the season.
The Charles Schwab Cup Championship will be held at the Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. It will feature the Top-30 players on the Champions Tour and has a total purse of $2.5 million with $450,000 to the winner.
The real prize, however, is the $1 million bonus that goes to the Charles Schwab Cup winner. It identifies the best golfer on the Champions Tour over the entire season.
Frost played in 23 Champions Tour events in 2012 and had 8 top-10 finishes. He had 19 professional wins world-wide over his career. He had ten wins on the PGA Tour with his last being the 1997 Colonial.
He never won a major championship but was a member of the International Team for the Presidents Cup in 1994 and again in 1996.
Frost has won three events since joining the Champions Tour, as well as, a win on the European Seniors Tour.
