The Web.com Tour concluded its 2014 season with its Tour Championship at Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.
Derek Fathauer collected his first professional win by posting a final round two-under-par 68 and edging Zac Blair by a single stroke.
After a very successful amateur career, Fathauer qualified for the 2009 PGA Tour, but finished No. 201 on the money list and lost his tour card.
He has played solid golf all season on the Web.com Tour, with eight top-10 and 15 top-25 finishes in 19 events. With $468,000 in total earnings, he ends the season at No. 2 in the priority ranking for next year.
Adam Hadwin, who won the Chiquita Classic, finished T-10 in the Children’s Hospital Championship, and T-7 in the Web.com Tour Championship, finished at No. 1 in the Web.com Tour Finals ranking.
He along with Carlos Ortiz, who won three titles on the 2014 Web.com Tour, will receive top priority into any PGA Tour tournament next season and both qualify for the Players Championship in May.
PGA Tour veteran, Heath Slocum missed the cut at both the Hotel Fitness Championship and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship. He finished T-16 in the Chiquita Classic and T-4 in the Tour Championship. His strong finish last week moved him from No. 71 to No. 33 and will save his job on the PGA Tour for next year.
The last man in at No. 50 is 40-year-old Eric Axley, who previously played on the PGA Tour 2006-2009. Axley won the 2006 Valero Texas Open, but has been off the PGA Tour since 2010.
In 10 starts on the PGA Tour this year, he made seven cuts and finished at No. 184 on the FedEx Cup points list, which earned him a trip to the Web.com Tour Finals.
With four top-50 finishes in the final four events on the Web.com Tour, he earned just enough to garner the last exemption for the 2014-15 PGA Tour season.
Names of note who failed to make it to the PGA Tour next season include; Vaughn Taylor, Greg Chalmers, Roberto Castro, Dicky Pride and Patrick Rodgers.
