Greg Norman Hosts Franklin Templeton Shootout on Fox

Joe Buck, Greg Norman and the Fox Sports Golf broadcast team will make their debut this week at the Franklin Templeton Shootout. Fox Sports will begin exclusive coverage of all USGA events beginning next season and the Shark Shootout should provide a valuable test run.

The Franklin Templeton Shootout is in its 26th year and is held annually at Tiburon Golf Club outside of Naples, Florida.

Although Norman will not be prowling the fairways this week, he will help call the action from the 18th tower along with highly acclaimed sports announcer, Joe Buck.

The tournament features 12 two-man teams in various formats over three rounds of competition. The first round, on Friday, will feature a scramble. A modified-alternate shot format is used in the second round and better-ball will be used for the final round on Sunday.

Teams included in the field this week:

Harris English/Matt Kuchar

Graeme McDowell/Gary Woodland

Keegan Bradley/Camilo Villegas

Billy Horschel/Ian Poulter

Jason Day/Cameron Tringale

Patrick Reed/Brandt Snedeker

Jerry Kelly/Steve Stricker

Ryan Palmer/Jimmy Walker

Sean O’Hair/Kenny Perry

Retief Goosen/Mike Weir

Charles Howell III/Scott Verplank

Justin Leonard/Rory Sabbatini

The team of English/Kuchar won this event last year and will look to defend their title. O’Hair/Perry won it in 2012. Perry also was victorious in 2005 and 2008 with other partners. Kelly/Stricker are good buddies from Wisconsin and won this event in 2009.

More importantly is the competition for “Best Dressed.”  Which team will be able to match the sartorial splendor of the Horschel/Poulter pairing. Both are known for their rather loud taste in golf attire and take great pride in their wardrobe acumen.

While the defending champions, English/Kuchar are the highest ranked team in the field this week, two teams, Reed/Snedeker and McDowell/Woodland should provide ample competition and finish near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.

Fox Sports 1 will air the first two rounds on Friday and Saturday, December 11-12. Fox will broadcast the final round on Sunday afternoon, December 13.
