Greg Norman will once again play host to the $3.1 million Franklin Templeton Shoot Out. The 54-hole event will be played at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
The tournament features three days of two-man team competition. On Friday the teams play a modified form of foursomes (alternate shot) called greensomes. Both players tee off, the best drive is chosen and alternate shot is played through the balance of the hole.
The teams play four-ball on Saturday and finish with a two-man scramble format for the final round on Sunday.
Twenty-four players are split into 12 teams. Kenny Perry and Sean O’Hair are teamed again this year and are the defending champions.
Other teams to watch for this weekend include; the all English duo of Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter, Canadians, Mike Weir and Graham DeLaet, Jason Dufner is with Dustin Johnson and Harris English with Matt Kuchar should be a formidable pairing.
The two-man team format allows players to take risks and be aggressive on the course. The scores are always low especially for the Sunday scramble portion. The “59 watch” is always in force for the final round.
Funds generated from the tournament will be donated to the Cure Search for Children’s Cancer, a national non-profit foundation that accelerates the cure for children’s cancer and provides resources to assist with cancer treatment.
