Half of Field is Set for PGA Tour Q-School Finals

The second stage of PGA Tour Q-School is complete at three of the six locations holding the qualifiers. Three locations in Florida, two in Texas and one in California hosted the events.

South Florida, as well as, North and South Texas all completed their four rounds on Friday. The other three locations will end on Saturday and complete the field for the last true PGA Q-School.

Next year Q-School qualifiers will only be eligible to compete on the Web.com Tour. PGA Tour members must earn their cards through the Web.com Tour.

A total of 19 players out of the 78 that entered will be moving on to PGA Tour Q-School finals from the South Florida Section held in Plantation, Florida.

The most familiar names that will continue are; Michael Sims, Kris Blanks, and Ross Fisher, who won medalist honors.

Some high profile names that just missed out are; Hank Kuehne, Carlos Franco, Jamie Lovemark, Brad Adamonis, Notah Begay and Jesper Parnevik.

Perhaps Jesper should have spent more time practicing his wedge shots rather than making his Gangnam Style video.

Final round qualifiers from the North Texas Section held at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas include: Kevin Tway, Todd Hamilton, James Nitties, Paul Stankowski, and medalist Scott Gutschewski.

Big names just missing final stage: Jordan Spieth, and “Aquaman” Woody Austin.

Making it to the finals from South Texas that was held at Redstone Country Club in Humble, Texas:  former PGA Champion, Shaun Micheel, Matt Goggin, Kelly Kraft, and Patrick Reed.

Outside of the cut and stuck on the Web.com Tour in 2013 are; Mathias Gronberg, Joe Durant, Chris Riley, Cameron Beckman, Kent Jones and David Gossett.

2002 PGA Champion Rich Beem was in good shape at two-under par after the first two rounds but was forced to withdraw and will miss out on a chance for the finals.

Of the 226 golfers that teed it up in the three second stage tournaments thus far only 58 will be moving on.

PGA Tour Q-School finals will be held at November 28th through December 3rd at PGA West in La Quinta, California and can be viewed on the Golf Channel.

Only 25 tour cards will be issued at final stage to the 120 players trying for their last shot to join the 2013 PGA Tour.
