Inbee Park Will Regain the World No. 1 Ranking on Monday

Stacy Lewis held on to the World’s No. 1 position in the Rolex Rankings by the narrowest of margins this week. In fact, you had to take their totals out to a hundredth of a point to find a difference. Stacy's average score is 11.0444, while Inbee's is 11.0382.

But all that is about to change once the new rankings are revealed on Monday, even when neither player is in the field of the inaugural Blue Bay LPGA being played this weekend in Hainan Island, China.

Park is playing a tournament in the Korean LPGA, but regardless of the outcome, the projections are that Park would leapfrog Lewis for the No. 1 spot, but the margin would remain in the same range is now. Park has racked an impressive seven consecutive Top 10 finishes, including her win at the Wegmans LPGA Championship, for her fifth career major.

Both Lewis and Park have been exchanging the No. 1 position for the past year and a half. Lewis took the No. 1 ranking from Yani Tseng on March 25 of 2013 and held it for four weeks before Park claimed it on April 15 of that year.

Just like this week, Park took the top ranking from Lewis during an off week when Park’s divisor favorably changed, bumping her average world ranking ahead of Lewis. Park would go into a sensational run that saw her win three majors and reign at No. 1 for 59 weeks.

Lewis was able to wrestle it back after a fantastic run of her own, with a bunch of Top 10s and a major, and took it for good June 2nd of this year, after winning the ShopRite Classic. Now, 21 weeks later, Park will take it back.

Lydia Ko, the World’s No. 3, is in the field at the Blue Bay LPGA, but even if she would go out and win the event, she would not take the No. 1 position in the rankings.
