After a second round seven-under par 65, Billy Andrade held the lead heading into the final day of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic at Fallen Oak.
Jeff Maggert made his Champions Tour debut this week and spoiled Andrade’s bid for his first Champions Tour win, by posting a final round four-under par 68 to win by two strokes.
Maggert made 603 career starts on the PGA Tour. He recorded three wins, had 175 top-10 finishes and earned over $19 million. His steady consistent style should serve him well on the Champions Tour.
Charles Schwab Cup leader, Bernhard Langer finished at eight-under par and tied for third with Jay Haas.
In five starts this season, Langer has not finished outside the top-10 and has earned $711,000.
The winner at the Toshiba Classic last week in California, Fred Couples led after a first round six-under par 66. He posted 71-72 on the weekend, however, to finish at seven-under par good for fifth place.
Seven players, Jeff Sluman, Steve Pate, Bart Bryant, Scott Hoch, John Riegger, Colin Montgomerie and Mike Goodes finished tied for the sixth spot at six-under par.
Sluman, Goodes and Pate fired the lowest rounds of the day at five-under par 67 to move up 20 spots on the leaderboard to join the group at six-under par.
