Now that the roars and cheers from the Solheim Cup have ended it is time to get back to the real business of the lady professional golfers.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open has been held since 1973 and was designated a major tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1979-2000. It will be held at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta this year.
Royal Mayfair is a par-70 and plays to 6,400 yards. It was built along the North Saskatchewan River and opened in 1922. The course remains essentially the same design after renovation in 1932. Lorena Ochoa won the only other time the LPGA has visited Royal Mayfair for the Canadian Women’s Open in 2007.
Last year at age 15, an amateur Lydia Ko became the youngest person to ever win an LPGA Tour event when she won the Canadian Women’s Open in Vancouver.
Former winners of the Canadian Open include; Judy Rankin, Pat Bradley, Juli Inkster, Meg Mallon, Annika Sorenstam, Cristie Kerr, Lorena Ochoa, Suzann Pettersen and Michelle Wie.

Park has won three of the four major titles this year and has amassed total earnings of $2.1 million. She has a huge lead in the Rolex Rankings and has earned $800,000 more than Stacy Lewis who is in second spot on the LPGA Tour money list.
