The LPGA Tour made its second stop of the 2014 season in Alabama, at the Robert Trent Jones Capitol Hill Golf Club just north of Montgomery.
Mi Jung Hur found the winners circle, after not winning an LPGA Tour event since 2009.
Since missing the cut at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, Hur has rattled off three top-10 finishes. She was T-9 in Portland, tied for third at the Evian Championship and won in Alabama.
Her first win came in her rookie season in the 2009 Safeway Classic in Portland over Suzann Pettersen and Michele Redman.
She moves to No. 27 in the Race to the CME Globe and No. 65 in the Rolex Ranking. At just 24 years old, Hur could be finding the game and confidence necessary to be a top contender on the LPGA Tour.
World No. 1 Stacy Lewis tried valiantly to catch Hur She carded four birdies on the front nine on Sunday, added two more on the back side for a six-under-par 66, but could not catch the leader, who fired her own 66 to maintain the four-shot win.
Lewis, who had finished outside the top-10 in five of her previous six starts, looked like her old self hitting fairways and knocking down flagsticks with accurate iron shots.
With the six-event swing through Asia and the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico remaining before the season-ending CME Group Championship, Lewis has a commanding lead in the Race to the CME Globe.
Rookie Paula Reto collected her best finish on the LPGA Tour. She was tied with Hur for the 54-hole lead, but a final round one-over-par 73 left her at alone in third place.
Kris Tamulis has been on the LPGA Tour since 2005 and garnered her third top-10 of the year, finishing alone in fourth place.
Lexi Thompson, who won her first LPGA Tour title on this golf course in 2011 as a 16 year old, missed the cut.
After a week off, the ladies will head to Beijing, China for the Reignwood LPGA Classic, October 2-5.
