The Champions Tour is in action at the Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, Florida this week. It is just the second tournament of the year for the senior set.
Bernhard Langer won the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in Hawaii and seems to be determined to win the Charles Schwab Cup this season.
He finished first on the Champions Tour money list last year, but was second to Kenny Perry in the 2013 Charles Schwab Cup race.
Rocco Mediate won in his first start on the Champions Tour last year at the 2013 Allianz Championship and is looking to repeat this year.
The top-30 from the 2013 Champions Tour money list will be in the field this week along with Nick Price and Ben Crenshaw.
The total purse available is $1.6 million with $240,000 going to the winner.
The Old Course at Broken Sound has hosted the Allianz Championship since 2007 and will play to a par-71 at slightly over 6,800 yards. Past winners here include; Bernhard Langer (2010), Tom Lehman (2011), Corey Pavin (2012) and Mediate last year.
The Allianz Championship will be broadcast all three days on the Golf Channel. It will be aired on Friday, 2/7, 12:30-2:30 PM ET. On Saturday, 2/8, and Sunday 2/9, the play will be carried live 3:00-5:00 PM ET.
