Ryan Moore Repeats At CIMB Classic in Malaysia

Ryan Moore must really enjoy playing golf at the Kuala Lumpur Golf Club in Malaysia, he finished at 17-under-par for the tournament and won the CIMB Classic for the second consecutive year.

Last year he had to beat Gary Woodland in a playoff, but this year he finished three shots ahead of Woodland, Sergio Garcia and Kevin Na.

Na was tied for the 54-hole lead, but slipped to a tie for runner-up with a final round two-under-par 70. Woodland began Sunday’s round at nine-under-par, three shots behind Moore and Na. He was not able to gain on Moore, as he matched his 67 and finished runner-up at the CIMB Classic for the second consecutive year.

Garcia was the highest ranked player in the field this week. He finished with 69-68-68-69 for a total of 14-under-par.

Garcia is looking to continue his strong play from the 2014 PGA Tour season, when he finished with three runners-up, earned $4.9 million and finished No. 13 in the FedEx Cup.

He is also ranked No. 3 on the Race to Dubai and will be looking to overtake Rory McIlroy and Jamie Donaldson in the last three events on the European Tour.

Moore is coming off one of his best years on the PGA Tour.  In addition to his win at this event last year he had seven top-10 finishes, earned over $3 million and finished No. 39 in the FedEx Cup.

Fifty-year-old Davis Love had one of his best finishes on the PGA Tour for some time. He strung together rounds of 68-71-71-68 to finish at 10-under-par good enough for a tie for eighth.

This came on the heels of serving as the tournament host last week at the McGladrey Classic at Sea Island, Georgia and flying around the world to compete in Malaysia.

Love missed seven cuts in 22 starts last season. His best finish on the 2014 PGA Tour was T-36 at the OHL Classic in Mayakoba last November.
