Suzann Pettersen Defends at Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship

Suzann Pettersen takes defending her titles seriously. She completely blew away the field and won by five shots to win her second consecutive Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship.

This was her fourth win and 14th top-10 this year. The $300,000 first-place check puts her over $2 million in total earnings for the year.

In addition to her four LPGA Tour wins this season, Pettersen also won the Mission Hills Ladies World Championship in March on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Pettersen is ranked No. 2 in the Rolex Rankings, trails only No. 1, Inbee Park and is slightly ahead of Stacy Lewis.
The “Big 3” of women’s golf, Park, Pettersen and Lewis has accounted for 12 LPGA Tour wins, including all five major championships and has completely dominated women’s golf this season.

This was also a very good week for Azahara Munoz. Even though she finished five shots behind Pettersen, her four rounds of 73-72-69-70 got her to four-under par, which was good enough for runner-up.

She has not won this year and Taiwan was only her second top-10 finish this season. She collected $186,000 which brought her total earnings for the year to $435,000.

Caroline Hedwall finished alone in third position. Although she has five wins on the LET, she has yet to win on the LPGA Tour. She was a stand-out on the 2013 European Solheim Cup team with a 5-0 record and golf pundits are predicting big things for the 24-year-old from Sweden.

Hedwall has six top-10 finishes on the LPGA this year, has earned $741,000 and is No. 23 on the Rolex Rankings.

Eun-Hee Ji shot two-under par 70 on Sunday to get her first top-10 finish of 2013. The fourth-place check of $104,000 brought her to $321,000 for the year.

Mina Harigae, Se Ri Pak and Irene Cho finished tied for fifth at even par.

Mi Jung Hur, Beatriz Recari and Sun Young Yoo all finished at one-over par and rounded out the top-10 at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship.

The LPGA Tour will take a week off and the next event will be the Mizuno Classic in Japan, November 8-10.
