Obviously the extra work Suzann Pettersen put in the offseason to get back to winning on the LPGA Tour is working. She shot a 69 in the second round of the LPGA Lotte Championship to move into the lead at 10-under par.
This is Pettersen’s tenth year on the LPGA Tour and she has 10 tour victories. She has won four LPGA tournaments over the past two years and the Mission World Ladies Championship in China on the Ladies European Tour in March.
She looks comfortable in all phases of her game right now.
Defending Champion Ai Miyazato has posted two rounds of 67-68 and is just one shot behind Pettersen. Over the past four years, she has nine wins on the LPGA Tour. She dominated the LPGA tour with five wins in 2010. Miyazato also has 15 wins on the LPGA of Japan.
World No. 2, Stacy Lewis posted a second-round 71 and is four shots behind the leader. She is looking for a high finish this week to regain the No. 1 spot on the Rolex Ranking that she lost last week to Inbee Park.
Teenager and first round leader Ariya Jutanugarn shot 11 shots higher than her first round 64 and posted a 75 in the second round. She fell to T-7 and is five shots back.
Inbee Park, ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings shot 70-71, is three-under par and seven shots back.
Teen sensation Lydia Ko has posted a pair of 71’s, is at two-under par for the tournament and will make another cut on the LPGA Tour.
Former No. 1, Yani Tseng is one-under par and still not sharp. She lost her No. 1 spot to Stacy Lewis and Inbee Park, has struggled for over a year and is now No. 3 on the Rolex Rankings.
Michelle Wie finished at two-under par on Wednesday but skied to a 76 on Friday. Her total of two-over par for the tournament will make the cut but is 12 shots back of the leader.
