Turkish Airlines Holds World Golf Cup for Amateurs

The first of three World Golf Cup events for 2014 was held at Cog Hill in suburban Chicago in early June and was a huge success.

This is the second year for the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup for amateur golfers and it has expanded to 50 cities in 35 countries worldwide.

Participants compete in individual stroke play over 18 holes and are split into two categories based on their handicaps. The series also features nearest-to-the-pin competitions with separate prizes for men and women.

Yes ladies, you are invited too.

The winner from each category will progress to play in the Grand Final, which will be held in Belek, Turkey from November 9-16, 2014.

One hundred winners will enjoy Business Class accommodations on Turkish Airlines, an all-inclusive stay at a 5-star resort and attend the Turkish Airlines Open.

As Global sponsor of this series, Maxx Royal Resort has teamed up with Turkish Airlines to provide an exclusive Hole-in-One prize.  Any player scoring a Hole-in-One during the series will receive two Turkish Airlines business class tickets and a seven-night stay at the luxurious Maxx Royal Resort in Belek, Turkey.

In addition, a drawing will be held at each qualifying tournament with the winner also receiving two Turkish Airlines business class flights and the seven-night stay at the Maxx Royal Resort.

The first 2014 World Golf Cup qualifier in the U.S. was held June 10, on Dubsdread at Cog Hill in suburban Chicago and was a huge success.

There will be two more opportunities to qualify for the Grand Final of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup in the U.S this year.

The next event will be held Monday, August 4, in Los Angeles and Wednesday, October 1, at Trump Bedminster, just outside of New York.

Trump Bedminster is the course that has been named to host the 2022 PGA Championship.

The 100 winners from the 50 local qualifying tournaments from around the world will attend the Grand Final held at the Royal Maxx Montgomerie Course in Belek, Turkey, in November.

The Grand Final winner earns a spot in the Pro-Am at the European Tour’s Turkish Airlines Open.

Victor Dubuisson, who finished runner-up in the WGC-Accenture Match Play in February, won the 2013 Turkish Airlines Open and will defend this year. It is the penultimate event on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai and only the top European Tour players will be in attendance.

All Grand Final participants will have the opportunity to see the European Tour’s stars battling for a share of the $7 million purse.
