Web.com Tour Championship Will Decide Fate for Pros

The Web.com Tour Championship will decide the fate for professional golfers this weekend at the Dye Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.

Twenty-five PGA Tour cards will be issued to the top money earners from the Web.com Tour Finals. The Hotel Fitness Championship, the Chiquita Classic and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship have led up to the Web.com Tour Championship.

Seung Yul Noh won the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship and is the leader of the Web.com Tour Finals. With $210,125, he has secured his tour card for next season.

Andrew Svoboda won the Chiquita Classic and Trevor Immelman won the Hotel Fitness Championship. They are also at the top of the money list and have earned their tickets to the 2014 PGA Tour.

This is the first year of the Web.com Tour Finals and it appears to be a resounding success. Rather than a six-round, pressure cooker Q-School, hopeful professional golfers can only earn PGA Tour playing privileges from the Web.com Tour.

Seventy-five PGA Tour players that had poor years and did not retain their PGA Tour cards have been pitted against the top 75 money earners from the Web.com Tour season in the Web.com Tour Finals.

The 25 cards give the veterans one more shot at keeping their lucrative jobs and offer young players a chance at the big purses and bright lights of the PGA Tour.

Dye’s Valley course is the sister course to the more famous Players Stadium Course. It was designed by Pete Dye, Bobby Weed and Jerry Pate and opened for play in 1987. It has hosted the Senior Players Championship and the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open.

Although not as difficult as the Stadium Course, it will offer the players a true test and will help determine worthy members for the 2014 PGA Tour season.

Players currently ranked No. 13 and higher on the Web.com Tour Finals rankings should be safe. The bottom 12 players need to play solid golf this week to maintain their position and make it to the big tour next year.

The Web.com Tour will be aired live Thursday-Sunday at 3:00-6:00 PM ET this week on the Golf Channel.
