PED’s, Biogenesis, The Mitchell Report.  These terms have been being pushed around for years in the MLB.  It’s a type of redundant, nails on the chalkboard of annoyance.  So what happens when a big name is involved?  Don’t worry; this is not about Alex Rodriguez.

Recently, St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols was accused by Jack Clark of taking performance-enhancing drugs on Clark’s radio show.  Clark, who is a former hitting coach for the Dodgers, claimed he was told by a trainer that worked for Pujols that he was “shot up;” then referred to Albert as “a juicer.”

Unfortunately, with the buzz surrounding PED’s in recent MLB talk, people are going to believe what they want to believe.  When a player hits a homerun or two, that player must automatically be juicing, and no, I’m not referring to the green juices you see the baseball wives post pictures of all over your twitter account.

Pujols plans on taking legal action against Clark and the radio station he was employed with.  Since the accusation, the radio show has “terminated its relationship” with him.

The 33-year old first baseman was recently defended by a former teammate Skip Schumaker in which he strongly denied the accusations of Clark, even calling Pujols “the most honest guy I’ve ever been around.”  With the way Pujols spoke out about the allegations, you cannot help but agree.

This season, Pujols hit for .258, with 17 bombs, and 64 RBI’s.  He is currently on the disabled list and plans to have surgery on his foot.

This is the terrible thing about one person speaking out.  Whether or not these claims are true, there are going to be individuals who believe Clark.  Why wouldn’t they?  Pujols, in an 11 year span, had six 40+ homerun seasons, multiple seasons hitting over .300, and in his career has 2,246 hits.  So I could understand why someone would assume these were “performance-enhancing drug numbers.”  You have to remember though,  talent gets you to the majors, and when there are so many tests being conducted around that are discovering players using PED’s, don’t  you think Pujols would have been caught years ago?

The Angels slugger has so many admirable people in his corner, and Clark stands alone.  Make your own opinion about the situation; just make sure you take a look at the evidence (or lack thereof in this case) before you start spouting off.
