After undergoing surgery on a thumb injury back on May 31st, the expectation was that Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout would miss 6-8 weeks.
While that still might be the case, Trout expects himself to be back before the July 11th All-Star Break. This would come one week before the bottom end of his original diagnosis.
We're not too sure if that will be the case. Boasting a 33-34 record, Los Angeles currently sits 12 games behind Houston in the AL West. It is also behind three other teams for the two wild card spots in the league. Depending on how the Angels perform over the next month, they might decide to take it easy with Trout. Then again, that will more likely depend on how the rest of his rehab goes.
Trout is hitting .337 with 16 homers and 36 RBI on the season. He was among the AL's top MVP candidates prior to going down to injury.
