It's a sight Los Angeles Angels fans really didn't want to see Wednesday evening in Oakland. Despite their team winning by the score of 5-0, the biggest takeaway from the Angels' third game of the season has to be that starter Garrett Richards exited in the fifth inning after showing discomfort in his pitching arm.
Richards, who exited after 4 2/3 innings, was shown pointing to his right elbow when being checked out by trainers. Remember, the 28-year-old starter missed the bulk of last season after suffering a partially torn elbow ligament. Richards was pitching to a tremendous 2.34 ERA in six starts when that injury happened.
The veteran will be evaluated again on Thursday with those in the Angels' organization definitely holding their breath.
