Hopefully everyone had a great holiday weekend full of family, candy, and winnings in fantasy daily baseball! Most of the games are evening/night games but there is one day game on the slate and that would be the Baltimore Orioles at the Boston Red Sox at 11:05 AM Eastern Time. With that game we have 13 games 26 teams worth of players to choose from.
We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)
The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:
Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt
Good Value Players
Pitcher
Zach McAllister, Indians, $5,800: McAllister was brilliant Wednesday against Detroit, as he gave up just one earned run on four hits. He struck out four and walked two, en route to picking up his second win of the season. He'll carry a 2-1 record, along with a pristine 2.04 ERA into his next start against Kansas City at home. McAllister is a pitcher that can limit walks and go seven innings strong as long as he gets the offense on his side to keep him going.
Catcher
Buster Posey, Giants, $3,100: For the life of me I can’t explain why Posey is so cheap today. I don’t even have to throw stats at you to say he is worth picking up. At this price he is a can’t miss player whether he has been struggling or not. In yesterday’s game against the Padres he went 1-for-4 with a homerun and two RBI’s.
First Base
David Ortiz, Red Sox, $3,400: This game is extremely early so it may be unlikely for you to take him by the time you see this article. But if you can, Get Ortiz while you can. Ortiz had two hits, including his third homer of the season, in Saturday's win over the Orioles. He had entered the game on a 1-for-17 skid and didn't have an extra-base hit in the previous six games. It seems he may be getting back in his groove of extra base hits and runs.
Second Base
Howie Kendrick, Angels, $3,000: Kendrick went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI Sunday afternoon against the Tigers. He is now riding a five game hit streak, during which he has recorded three multi-hit games and raised his batting average to .289. Now with eight games with two or more hits under his belt, Kendrick is shaping up to be a nice piece for fantasy owners. And at this price he is an excellent option.
Third Base
Nolan Arenado, Rockies, $3,000: Arenado is on a 10 game hitting streak. He hasn’t produced any homeruns but is supplying a solid average and had four doubles and four RBI’s in that span. With him on this hot streak of hitting it is just a matter of time when he has more runners on base and he has the chance to hit them to score us some more fantasy points.
Shortstop
Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,100: Cabrera was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a sore right knee. The 27-year-old Cabrera is off to a strong start, and has hit safely in nine of his last ten games. He can stretch a single to a double with his speed and can steal bases to add points to your total fantasy score. It seems like that knee problem isn’t bothering him much at all.
Outfield
Rajai Davis, Tigers, $3,200: Davis continues to get regular playing time and is rewarding his fantasy owners with a solid batting average (.325) and his usual contribution - steals (he now has six). Hitting at the bottom the order lessens his value slightly, but the Tigers continue to view him as an additional leadoff hitter so expect his running to continue.
My Lineup: $35,000 Cap
Pitcher – Zack McAllister, Indians, $5,800
Catcher – Buster Posey, Giants, $3,100
First Base – David Ortiz, Red Sox, $3,400
Second Base – Howie Kendrick, Angels, $3,000
Third Base – Nolan Arenado, Rockies, $3,000
Shortstop – Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,100
Outfield – Rajai Davis, Tigers, $3,200
Outfield – Mike Trout, Angels, $5,500: Trout has been hitless his past two games but was on fire in the games before that. Consider that just a blip on the radar because we all know he will get back into the swing of things. He faces the Washington Nationals, Tanner Roark who has been roughed up a bit in his last two starts giving up eight runs and 12 hits in those 11 innings pitched.
Outfield – Ryan Braun, Brewers, $4,500: For the second consecutive game, Braun tortured the Pirates, delivering a solo home run in the ninth inning to send the game to extras. Braun finishes the three-game set in Pittsburgh with three homers and four RBI, perhaps assuaging most of the concern fantasy owners might have had about the thumb issue that has dogged him off and on this season. It would be nice to see Braun show his power a little more consistently, as his six homers have come across just three games, but at least thus far, his numbers haven't noticed too much of a dip from his impressive 2011 and 2012 campaigns.
