Having just placed Andrew Triggs on the 10-day disabled list with a left hip strain, the Oakland Athletics needed to find someone to take his spot in the rotation for the next week-plus. 

That comes in the form of 2014 second-round pick Daniel Gossett, who will make his MLB debut and start Wednesday against the Miami Marlins. 

This has been a long time coming for the Clemson product, who saw a cult of tea as a non-roster invite during spring training. Thus far in Triple-A Nashville, the 24-year-old righty is pitching to a 3-3 record with a 3.41 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 11 starts. He's yielded a grand total of two runs in his past three starts. 

With a fastball that registers in the mid 90s and an above average curve, Gossett could be with the big league club to stay. He's struck out 343 batters in 382 minor league innings, so there's definitely some intrigue from a fantasy perspective here.

Gossett entered the season as Oakland's seventh-best prospect.
