Oakland Athletics All-Star pitcher Sonny Gray is closing in on a return to the big league team. Gray looked fabulous in a rehab start in Single-A on Saturday, giving up just one hit while striking out six over five innings.
Gray, who has been out for the entire season with a lat injury, will make his next rehab start in Triple-A. This signals a likely imminent return to the Major League team here in the not-so-distant future.
When healthy, Gray has proven himself to be a top-end fantasy starter. Back in 2015, the 27-year-old starter posted a 14-7 record with a 2.73 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
Unfortunately, Gray dealt with myriad injuries last season. It impacted his overall performance, as he posted a 5-11 record with a 5.69/1.50 split.
