With ace starter Sonny Gray sidelined to a lat strain, the Oakland Athletics announced on Thursday that Kendall Graveman will be the team's Opening Day starter.
This shouldn't comes as too much of a surprise. While talented, the A's rotation is not necessarily that experienced behind Gray.
Graveman, 26, posted a 10-11 record with a 4.06 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 31 starts for Oakland last season. He led the team in wins, starts and innings pitched.
