This time last season, Bud Norris was in the midst of a career year that saw him eventually finish with 15 wins and a decent 3.65 ERA in 28 starts. Unfortunately for Norris, the 2015 campaign has not turned out the same way.
He was released by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday after being designated for assignment earlier in the week.
The 30-year-old starter had posted a 2-9 record with a 7.06 ERA and a ridiculously high 1.64 WHIP in 18 games (11 starts) prior to his release. In his two appearances prior to being shown the door, Norris had yielded six earned runs and 10 hits in just 4.2 innings pitched.
Set to become a free agent after this year, Norris is earning $8.8 million in 2015. He's now free to sign with any team, which could potentially lead him to another squad currently in contention.
