As week three of the Major League Baseball season comes to an end, it’s time to look back and see who dominated. The list includes a lot of speed, along with some power bats.
Carlos Gomez Center Fielder, Milwaukee Brewers
This 27-year-old had one of the greatest weeks of any player in all of baseball. Of his 18 at-bats, he has recorded 11 hits, while driving in three runs. Of his 11 hits, two of them have been home runs. His batting average for the week is .611, which is huge for any fantasy owner. Along with his recent hot streak, he also managed to steal one base.
Luis Jimenez Third Basemen, Los Angeles Angels
The most surprising performance of the week has to go to Jimenez. He has recorded nine hits in 16 at-bats. This gives him an impressive .563 average that comes as complete shock to most people. Sure, this kid might not be the next Mike Trout, but Angels fans and fantasy owners have to be excited to see what he continues to do. Jimenez has shown signs of plate discipline as well, being walked twice this week.
J.P. Arencibia Catcher, Toronto Blue Jays
Here is an example of a power-bat that can help and hurt all at the same time. Arencibia has hit three home runs this week, but his batting average is only .217. Basically, he is either going to hit you a home run or not get a hit at all. He also struck out seven times this week. It all comes down to giving up average for power. If you believe this strategy works then go with it. If you like seeing a .300 average, JP is not your guy.
