Brewers Place OF Ryan Braun on Disabled List

Not long after the Milwaukee Brewers activated outfielder Ryan Braun from the disabled list in his return from a left calf strain, they've now placed him back on the 10-day disabled list. With Braun's move to the disabled list, it opened up a roster spot for the team to activate starting pitcher Junior Guerra

Braun aggravated the left calf strain on Thursday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Braun, who was activated off the disabled list and Sunday and sat out on Wednesday, suffered the injury early in the game.

The 33-year-old has battled through calf issues throughout the month and with it now requiring a second trip on the disabled list, Milwaukee play things more cautiously as Braun works his way back. An aggravation of the injury this soon after just a 10-day stay on the disabled list could lead Milwaukee to sit Braun for two weeks, then see how he feels and go from there with a possible rehab assignment before an automatic activation off the disabled list.

Braun's 262/.350/.524 slash line certainly leaves something more desired from fantasy owners, but he did hit seven home runs and post an .874 OPS in 30 games. But now with Braun out of action for the next few weeks, fantasy owners again will have to find alternatives.

Hernan Perez should see a majority of the starts with Braun sidelined. Perez has started the year with strong production as a utility player with a .270 batting average, five home runs and a .794 OPS. May hasn't provided as much power from Perez with just two home runs in 82 plate appearances and an on-base percentage below .300 makes him even more of a questionable play. Fantasy owners are best off looking elsewhere for a player who can provide more numbers in one category.
