Can the White Sox Rebound?

Can the White Sox Rebound?

The Chicago White Sox are having a rough start to the 2013 season and things don’t seem to be changing anytime soon. Between the Cubs and the White Sox the talk of Chicago is Kanye West new album Yeezus and not baseball. At this point in the season the White Sox have accumulated a record of 29-39 which is last in the AL Central and second worst in the AL.

The question is whether this team can turn it around and I do not think that it is going to happen this year. This team put a nice little run together last season but it was not enough and I do not suspect them to do better than last season.

Their home record is okay at best as they are two games over .500 at 16-14. Their away record is much worse as they only have 13 away wins and a ridiculous 25 losses. To take a deeper look as to why this team is struggling we have to look at team stats. First, their offense. They have the 12th worst team batting average of the 15 teams in the AL along with the third least amount of home runs. The worst stat of all is that they have scored the fewest run of any team in the American League.

Their pitching is about the same as Chris Sale is the only consistent pitcher on their roster. They have the seventh best ERA in the AL but with the lack of run support they would need to be in the top three to make a real impact.

The only hope the White Sox have is that the Detroit Tigers start to slump and that doesn’t look like it is going to happen anytime soon. They are going to have to make a big run before the All Star break begins to even be in the conversations just a little bit. As we’ve seen it is bats that this team is missing and if they don’t make a trade for a big name bat they are going to be in a lot of trouble.
