The Chicago White Sox added a high-upside starter to the back end of their rotation on Tuesday by signing Mat Latos to an incentive-laded one-year, $3 million contract.
Latos, 28, spent time with three teams last season — posting a 4-10 record with a 4.95 ERA in 24 appearances (21 starts) for the Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels.
This came on the heels of a three-year span that saw Latos post a combined 33-16 record with a sub 3.30 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in 81 starts.
Latos will likely act as Chicago's No. 5 starter behind the likes of Chris Sale, Jose Quintana, Carlos Rodon and John Danks.
This isn't a bad rotation by any stretch of the imagination.
