Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was placed on the disabled list late last month after being diagnosed with a herniated disc in his back. While he was placed on the 15-day variety, the expectation was that he'd be out for longer than two weeks.
Now approaching that two-week time line, Kershaw appears to be eyeing a late-July return. The three-time Cy Young winner threw a bullpen session on Sunday, the last day before MLB's All-Star break. According to reports, it went extremely well and Kershaw is now expected to be able to return during his second turn in the rotation following the near-week hiatus of meaningful baseball around the MLB world.
From a fantasy perspective, Kershaw has been the most dominating pitcher in all of baseball this season.
He's posted an 11-2 record with a MLB-best 1.79 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in 16 starts this season. He's also struck out 145 batters compared to nine walks in 121 innings.
From a regular baseball perspective, the Dodgers simply need to get their ace back. The team is 14-2 in his 16 starts and just 36-38 when he doesn't take to the bump.
