Cleveland Indians Infielder Jason Kipnis to Miss 2-3 Weeks

Cleveland Indians Infielder Jason Kipnis to Miss 2-3 Weeks

Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis has been among the most productive hitters in all of baseball. Entering Monday's action with a .326 average and a .878 OPS, he's also been a fantasy dynamo.

Unfortunately for the Indians and those fantasy owners who have Kipnis rostered, the infielder is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury.

From the Cleveland Plain-Dealer

"Kipnis is expected to miss two to three weeks. The shoulder has been bothering him off and on for much of the season. He feels it most when he throws."

Cleveland re-called Jose Ramirez from Triple-A Columbus after placing Kipnis on the disabled list. Ramirez, 22, was up earlier in the season. However, he struggled big time for the Big League squad, hitting .176 with one homer and eight RBI's in 47 games. Ramirez will likely take over the every-day duties until Kipnis returns from injury. It goes without saying that he's not a reliable DFS option.

Unfortunately for those of us in the daily fantasy baseball world, this news comes on the same day that San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik was also placed on the DL—further causing a depth issue at one of the most scarce positions on the diamond.
