Hammel has been great for the Cubs this season, in what has turned out to be a surprisingly productive starting rotation. He has pitched like an ace this season, as he owns a 2.90 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a splendid 12-5 record. Despite Ryan Braun raking at the pate the Brewers are still losing a ton of games, and they only rank 23rd in runs, an 22nd in batting average. Meanwhile, Hammel has been dealing since a 10 run implosion on the first of July. Since that start he has pitched in six games without allowing more than two runs, and has not allowed a single run in his last two starts. Hammel is also striking out right around a batter per inning during this stretch, and should have little issues with this Brewers lineup as long as he can keep Braun in the yard.
