Arrieta had people worried for a little bit, but he always follows up that one bad start by rattling off multiple good starts in a row. Today he faces an already weak Athletics offense that recently traded away their best hitter in Josh Reddick leaving their lineup with a ton of holes. They already only ranked 22nd in runs, and they have only scored six runs in their last three starts as they are clearly missing Reddick. Arrieta’s strikeout rate is down a little bit this season, but with the free swinging A’s on deck he should have no issues racking up the K’s and putting himself in a great position to come away with a win.
