Sanchez appears to have finally tapped into his potential this season, as he is putting up the numbers the Jays always knew he was capable of. He owns a 3.08 ERA, with a 1.23 WHIP, and 96 strikeouts in 105 innings. Since May 9th he has allowed more than two runs only twice, and now he faces a Royals lineup that despite having the second highest batting average in baseball only ranks 25th in runs. The Royals are also without their three-hole hitter Lorenzo Cain, thus giving a big advantage to Sanchez in this matchup.
