With more teams clinching playoff spots more and more starters are being rested. Yesterday the Mets played all but one starter, making it a huge risk to start any player on a team that has clinched a playoff spot. Even starting pitchers such as David Price are a huge risk as the Blue Jays may opt to give him rest so that he is available for game one of the playoffs.

Days like today it’s best to play it safe and start players you know will be in the lineup rather than risk starting a guy like Josh Donaldson who costs premium dollars just to find out he isn’t playing. Below are my picks for October 1.
