With Rob Segedin, Franklin Gutierrez and Joc Pederson all sidelined to injury, the Los Angeles Dodgers made the decision to call up top prospect Cody Bellinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Bellinger, 21, was a fourth-round pick of the Dodgers back in 2013. The first baseman/outfielder entered this season as the organization's top prospect.
In 18 games at Triple-A before being called up, Bellinger had posted a .343 average with five homers, 15 RBI, seven steals and 15 runs scored.
He will start in left field and bat eighth for the Dodgers against the division rival San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.
