Fantasy Baseball Daily 4.12.14

After not having any day games yesterday we have five of them today as every team is scheduled to play.  While there aren’t a lot of great hitting matchups due to the high amount of aces and quality starters pitching today there are still some gems to be found.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus  on your initial deposit.  This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash.  The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)

The scoring system for FanDuel  is as follows:

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Value Picks

Pitcher
Justin Masterson, Indians, $6,600:
Masterson has had mixed results thus far to start the year. He was dominant in his first start of the year against the athletics going seven innings giving up no runs, but in his next start versus the Twins he surrendered five runs in only three and two thirds innings pitched.  Facing a White Sox offense that has been up and down this year, Masterson should be able to utilize his sinker enough to get some ground ball double plays against a team he had great success against last season, with a .83 ERA, two complete games and 29 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.

Catcher
Tyler Flowers, White Sox, $2,700:
Flowers continues to remain locked in at the plate.  Flowers is batting .444 and has only gone hitless twice this year, but one game was an 0/1 in a game in which he did not start. For the price there no reason to keep him out of your lineup for the remainder of his hot streak.

First Base
Matt Adams, Cardinals, $3,300:
With many of the Cardinals batters struggling to hit the ball to begin the year Adams RBI opportunities have been far and few between.  Now seems like an excellent time to start Adams though as the last two games he has been moved up to the cleanup spot due to the extreme struggles of Allen Craig  Kolten Wong and Matt Carpenter have been two of the few Cardinals and with them setting the table Adams has a good chance to increase his RBI total against Carlos Villanueva and maybe even hit his first homerun of the year.

Second Base
Omar Infante, Royals, $2,900:
Despite being hit by a pitch in the face against the Rays Infante found himself back in the lineup after only missing two games and started the game out with a base hit.  Infante has had a solid start for the Royals batting .348 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI.  With Ricky Nolasco on the mound Infante should have a good day at the plate.

Third Base
Conor Gillaspie, White Sox, $2,500
: Gillaspie has been tearing the cover off of the ball all season long.  Gillaspie doubled his RBI total for the season with four RBI last night against the Indians to bring his total to eight for the year and continues to bat over .300.  While the match up isn’t a good one I like Gillaspie’s chances of raising his hitting streak up to ten games.

Short Stop
J.J. Hardy, Orioles, $3,000:
Hardy is expected back into the lineup for today and should provide immediate fantasy impact for owners.  Drew Hutchison is the starter for the Blue Jays and will have a hard time pitching well against an Orioles team that is clicking offensively right now.

Outfield
Alex Gordon, Royals, $3,200:
Gordon seems to be clicking at the plate right now after hitting his first homerun on Wednesday against the Rays.  Ricky Nolasco is on the mound for the Twins and has given up five runs in both of his starts this year.  This is a juicy math cup you won’t want to miss out on as Gordon should be able to capitalize on the poor pitching of the Twins.

My Picks

Pitcher
Justin Masterson, Cardinals, $6,600

Catcher
Tyler Flowers, White Sox, $2,700

First Base
Miguel Cabrera, Tigers, $5,000:
Despite not being the Miguel Cabrera we are used to seeing it’s only a matter of time before he turns things around.  This is a guy who just missed out on winning consecutive triple crowns.  Ian Kennedy doesn’t pose much of a problem for a guy like Cabrera as he looks to break out of his slump.

Second Base
Omar Infante, Royals, $2,900

Third Base
Conor Gillaspie, White Sox, $2,500

Short Stop
Jed Lowrie, Athletics, $3,500

Outfield
Michael Cuddyer, Rockies, $4,100:
You can never go wrong with the guy who bats in front of Cargo and Troy Tulowitzki.  Not only does he score plenty of runs but he has the pop to drive in runs himself and squares off against a Matt Cain who has not been the same CY Young pitcher we are used to seeing since the start of last season.  Cain has been serving up the long ball, which spells disaster against a Rockies lineup that has plenty of pop.

Outfield
Alex Gordon, Royals, $3,200

Outfield
Ryan Braun, Brewers, $4,500:
Not many batters are hotter than Braun right now with 10 RBI in his last four games.  Until he cools off he is worth every dollar that you are spending on him.
