Good Value Players
Pitcher
Aaron Harang, Braves, $5,800: Harang came up big again, as he allowed no hits and struck out five across seven scoreless innings Friday night versus the Mets. The question with Harang at this point is just how long can he keep this up. Now four starts into his initial campaign with the Braves, the 13-year veteran has a 3-1 record while giving up a mere two runs on nine hits across 25.2 innings. I’m riding the hot start for Harang and picking him as my pitcher for today. He is extremely cheap for how well he is doing right now so if you want to save some cash, Harang is your man.
Catcher
Evan Gattis, Braves, $3,100: Gattis played hero Monday night, hitting a walk-off two-run home run in the 10th inning. He finished the day 2-for-4. The Braves' catcher is having a fine April, hitting .302 with five home runs and nine RBI. Gattis is on pace to exceed his 21-home run season from a year ago. He will face the Marlins again today and will hopefully continue his hot streak.
First Base
Mike Napoli, Red Sox, $3,200: Napoli had just one hit Monday, but made it count, connecting on an eighth-inning home run. He has now slugged four homers this season after collecting 23 a season ago. The first baseman is having a nice start to his season, hitting .274 with 12 RBI to go along with his four home runs. Being that he is hot recently there is no reason that you should miss having him on your team especially for this low price.
Second Base
Brian Dozier, Twins, 3,400: Dozier is seeing the ball very well recently. He has at least one hit in eight of his last ten games. Yesterday against the Rays David Price, he went 1-for-4 with a homerun and went 3-for-6 against the Royals the game before that. Dozier will face Jake Odorizzi who has an ERA over 5.0 and should be able to continue his hitting ways.
Third Base
Nolan Arenado, Rockies, $3,100: Arenado is on a 12 game hitting streak. He is absolutely on fire right now. I had great luck with him when I selected him as my third baseman on Monday. He homered in his past two games and has five RBI’s in his last six games. I strongly advise that you ride the hot streak of Arenado and have him in your lineup against the Giants today.
Shortstop
Derek Jeter, Yankees, $2,900: Jeter is on a 10 game hitting streak for himself. Even though he doesn’t play every day he is still a valuable asset to the Yankees team. Jeter generally performs well against the Red Sox and happened to go 2-for-4 with two RBI’s, a run, and a walk in yesterday’s game against them. For the cheap value that Jeter is, I strongly suggest you nab him and upgrade other positions.
Outfield
Eric Young, Mets, $3,200: If there is a breath of fresh air on the Mets lineup, the only player that would be is Eric Young. He is one heck of a speedster on the base paths and already has 10 stolen bases on the year. He won’t do great with his batting average or RBI’s but as long as he can get on base he will steal you bases and score you runs. Here on FanDuel that is valuable enough to get a good amount of points.
My Lineup: $35,000 Cap
Pitcher – Aaron Harang, Braves, $5,800
Catcher – Evan Gattis, Braves, $3,100
First Base – Mike Napoli, Red Sox, $3,200
Second Base – Brian Dozier, Twins, $3,400
Third Base – Nolan Arenado, Rockies, $3,100
Shortstop – Derek Jeter, Yankees, $2,900
Outfield – Eric Young, Mets, $3,200
Outfield – Mike Trout, Angels, $5,500: Trout is starting to get his hitting back in this Nationals series where he was hitless two of the games before the series started. Yesterday he was 1-for-5 but also scored two runs. Trout is an expensive option but if you save money in other positions like I do then you will be able to pick him up. You will not be disappointed because we all know what type of games he is capable of.
Outfield – Jose Bautista, Blue Jays, $4,700: Bautista has been putting up some good fantasy points for FanDuel the past few days. And the Points haven’t been been from hitting the ball all over the place. He drew nine walks in the past six games and also scored six runs in that span. As long as Bautista keeps getting on base and scoring runs he is racking up the points so he is a valuable player to have on your daily team.
