Fantasy Baseball Daily - April 25, 2014

Happy Friday everyone.  Hopefully you all are doing well in your daily fantasy plays with a little help from us at eDraft.  We have all night games today with the earliest being three games starting at 7:05 AM Eastern Time.  With those games we have 15 games 30 teams worth of players to choose from.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit.  This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash.  The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)

The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Good Value Players

Pitcher

Jesse Chavez, Athletics, $5,500: Chavez was excellent once again on Sunday, allowing only one run over six innings while striking out six Astros.  Chavez did not appear quite as sharp as he had in his first three outings as he walked three guys on Sunday, more than he had walked combined in his first three outings.  That is OK though because he was able to only give up one run and more importantly got the win.  He is expected to have a similar performance tonight and perhaps better.

Catcher

Jonathan Lucroy, Brewers, $3,300: Lucroy has been up and down his past few games.  He received a day off on Monday and went 3-for-7 with two walks since then.  He is in a very favorable matchup against the Cubs right handed pitcher Carlos Villanueva who has been torn to pieces in his last two starts giving up 19 hits and 14 earned runs on five and two-thirds innings pitched.  Lucroy and the Brewers have the benefit of the doubt in this matchup.  You will see more Brewers in this lineup today.

First Base

Ryan Howard, Phillies, $3,700: In his past five games, Howard has seven RBI’s, two homeruns and four runs scored.  He does have his strikeout numbers high once again this season but for fantasy purposes that doesn’t matter because an out is an out.  As long as he keeps producing runs then he will be of value.  Today he faces the Cardinals right handed pitcher Josh Collmenter who surrendered 10 hits and seven earned runs on 10 innings pitched in his last two games.  this is good news for Howard because he will have a good opportunity to hit the long ball.

Second Base

Neil Walker, Pirates, $3,300: With six home runs in just 81 at-bats, Walker is nearly halfway to his homer total (16) from all of last season.  The increased power production has been muted to a degree by a substandard .261 average, but home runs are often difficult to come by at the second base position.  This is why Walker is a solid player to have at this price.  He can hit the long ball and score some runs which equal many fantasy points here on FanDuel.

Third Base

Juan Uribe, Dodgers, $3,100: Uribe went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's loss to Philadelphia.  His fourth inning blast off Phillies' starter Kyle Kendrick was his fourth of the season.  The old man is proving he can still get it done this year.  Uribe is hitting an average of .330 with four homeruns and 10 RBI’s.  At this price he is a solid play in today’s fantasy daily.

Shortstop

Jean Segura, Brewers, $3,400: Segura went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer Wednesday night against the Padres.  For the second night in a row Segura batted eighth in the order, but perhaps hitter homer No. 1 will help him break out of his early-season slump and move back up in the order.  He should have no problem improving his stats today since he is facing the Cubs Carlos Villanueva.  We will be seeing a surge in Segura’s batting average.

Outfield

Eric Young, Mets, $3,400: If there is a breath of fresh air on the Mets lineup, the only player that would be is Eric Young.  He is one heck of a speedster on the base paths and already has 10 stolen bases on the year.  He won’t do great with his batting average or RBI’s but as long as he can get on base he will steal you bases and score you runs.  Here on FanDuel that is valuable enough to get a good amount of points.

My Lineup: $35,000 Cap

Pitcher – Jesse Chavez, Athletics, $5,500

Catcher – Jonathan Lucroy, Brewers, $3,300

First Base – Ryan Howard, Phillies, $3,700

Second Base – Neil Walker, Pirates, $3,300

Third Base – Juan Uribe, Dodgers, $3,100

Shortstop – Jean Segura, Brewers, $3,400

Outfield – Eric Young, Mets, $3,400

Outfield Desmond Jennings, Rays, $3,400: Jennings went 3-for-5 with a walk and two runs scored Wednesday against the Twins.  He is now 5-for-10 in a two game span since returning to the lineup following a minor groin injury, and it's looking as if the rest has been beneficial.  He should be a steady source of runs batting near the top of the Rays lineup.

Outfield Ryan Braun, Brewers, $4,800: See Jonathan Lucroy and Jean Segura.
