Fantasy Baseball Daily 4.5.14

With another full slate of games today it makes selecting our lineups a little bit easier.  Once again we have eight day games and seven night games so if you prefer only playing day games you still have plenty of players to choose from.

My fantasy picks are from FanDuel.com.  If you have yet to sign up on FanDuel now is the time, as you will receive a 1000 percent deposit bonus on your initial deposit when you join through the link http://edraft.com/fanduel/mlb.

On FanDuel you are allotted a $ 35,000 cap for selecting players.  Your lineup will consist of one starting pitcher and one position player at each position except for outfield where you select three outfielders.

The scoring system is very simple:
Batters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3 pts, Homerun = 4pts, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt, Stolen Base = 2pts, Out = -.25pts

Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Runs = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Inning Pitched = 1pt

Value Picks

Pitcher
Tyler Skaggs, Angels, $4,900:
Not a pitcher you would normally want to pick on your daily team, but he does have a good match up.  The angels are playing the Astros tomorrow who are not a strong hitting team and are prone to strikeouts.  While Skaggs may not be your typical strikeout pitcher he does get his fair share of them as he had 36 of them in 38 innings last year.  As long as the Angels offense comes to life Skaggs should be able to walk away with a win providing excellent value for your team.

Catcher
Matt Wieters, Orioles, $3,300:
I’m not usually a fan of Wieters but he has hit the ball well to start the season.  Wieters are has a favorable match up against Rick Porcello.  In a limited number of at bats Wieters has had success against Porcello with a .364 batting average.

First Base
Jose Abreu, White Sox, $3,400:
At only $3,400 I’m going to continue to start Abreu day in and day out until he proves me wrong.

Second Base
Anthony Rendon, Nationals, $3,300:
Rendon is red hot to start the year and has two hits in every game that he’s started and went 1/1 in the only game he hasn’t started.  Rendon has also either driven in a run or scored a run in every game he’s played in thus far.  If Rendon is in the Nationals starting lineup tomorrow he should also be in yours.

Third Base
Trevor Plouffe, Twins, $3,200:
Plouffe is off to a great start this season with at least one hit in every game.  The twins offense has been clicking as a whole, and with Carlos Carrasco on the mound tomorrow Plouffe should have more than his fair share of RBI opportunities wile hitting in the middle of the Twins lineup.

Short Stop
J.J. Hardy, Orioles, $3,100:
Hardy has value sleeper written all over him for today’s game.  Hardy has had Porcello’s number so far in his career with a .400 batting average.  Hardy has yet to score or drive in a run on the season but Porcello should be plenty capable of remedying that situation.  Be sure to check in on Hardy’s status prior to game time though as he has been suffering from back spasms.

Outfield
Grady Sizemore, Red Sox, $2,700
: Sizemore is scheduled to play today’s game before being reevaluated on Sunday.  Sizemore has looked good thus far in his return to baseball with both a homerun and a stolen base to his name showing he may have a little something left in the tank after all, if he’s able to get over the injuries.

My Lineup: $35,000 Cap

Pitcher: Johnny Cueto, Reds, $7,300: There is no doubt in my mind that he is worth the money.  In his first start of the season he went seven innings giving up one run with eight strikeouts against a potent Cardinals lineup. I can’t wait to see what he can do versus the Mets.

Catcher: Matt Wieters, Orioles, $3,300

First Base: Jose Abreu, White Sox, $3,400

Second Base: Anthony Rendon, Nationals, $3,300

Third Base: Trevor Plouffe, Twins, $3,200

Short Stop: Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,300

Outfield: Matt Holliday, Cardinals, $3,700

Outfield: Nelson Cruz, Orioles, $3,400

Outfield: Jay Bruce, $3,900

Don't forget to check your lineup before each game to make sure that everyone in your lineup is starting. The last thing you want is a zero spot in your lineup costing yourself money.
