Today in fantasy baseball daily, we have only a select amount of games to analyze. The Brewers vs. Phillies game in Philadelphia is already postponed due to the rain storm that is predicted to open up during game time. With that we only have eight games today starting at 1:05 PM Eastern Time.
We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)
The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:
Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt
Good Value Players
Pitcher
Felipe Paulino, White Sox, $5,200: Paulino struck out six and walked two while giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Twins in his first outing. The start was Paulino's first in the big leagues since June 6, 2012, while he threw 109 pitches and was positioned for a victory upon departure. He faces the Rockies today and has a good chance of stealing a win. Paulino is a high risk, high reward pitcher in today’s plays.
Catcher
Matt Wieters, Orioles, $3,300: Wieters is off to a hot start, collecting a hit in all five games in which he has played. He went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Tigers. He is on a five game hitting streak and faces the Yankees’ Hiroki Kuroda who had a good first start of the season against the Astros but still ended up with the loss due to the lack of hitting for the Yankees. Wieters is seeing the ball well right now and is expected to expend his hitting streak to another game.
First Base
Mike Napoli, Red Sox, $3,400: Napoli has been of fire recently and there are no signs of slowing him down. He was able to focus on baseball training this past offseason instead of the health issues that surrounded him 2013 and he's showing good results early on. He already has two homeruns, seven RBI’s, three runs, and four walks this season. He is facing Tanner Scheppers of the Rangers who was rocked in his first outing against the Phillies. The Red Sox are a better hitting team so expect them to score plenty of runs.
Second Base
Howie Kendrick, Angels, $2,800: In this series against the Astros, Kendrick has been a hitting machine. He has two hits in each of the last three games in this series and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored against the Astros on Sunday. Kendrick only stole six bases in an injury-plagued season in 2013, but looks to have his legs underneath him in the early going, and should be a candidate to swipe between 11-14 bags, as he had done in his previous five seasons.
Third Base
Yangervis Solarte, Yankees, $3,000: Solarte followed up the three hits in his first start at the MLB level yesterday with a 2-for-5 performance and three RBI in the Yankees win over the Blue Jays on Friday night, 2-for-3 on Saturday, and 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run on Sunday. He is playing the infield since Kelly Johnson had to move to first after Mark Teixeira is back on the disabled list. Solarte is proving his worth for the Yankees and should continue that trend while facing the Orioles and Ubaldo Jimenez who surrendered four runs and five hits over six innings against the Red Sox in his first start.
Shortstop
Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox, $3,300: Bogaerts moved up to fifth in the batting order Saturday and went 2-for-4 with a walk, double and two runs scored in an extra-inning loss to the Brewers. He is matching up against the Rangers and Tanner Scheppers. Bogaerts is being selected for the same reason Napoli is being picked. Both should have great fantasy days today.
Outfield
Michael Cuddyer, Rockies, $3,400: Cuddyer has at least one hit in every game so far this season. In combining Cuddyer's efforts with leadoff man Charlie Blackmon, the Rockies' one and two hitters went 9-for-11 with six RBI and six runs scored in Friday’s rout against the Diamondbacks; the epitome of table-setting. Cuddyer has certainly done his thus far show last season's NL batting title was no fluke, as he's hitting a robust .455 over the first five games.
My Lineup: $35,000 Cap
Pitcher – John Lackey, Red Sox, $6,700: Lackey allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out six in Wednesday's win over Baltimore. Lackey is a pitcher who will go out and give his all in every outing and likely average a strikeout per inning. The main reason I like Lackey here is because the Red Sox lineup should be able to jump all over the Rangers pitcher Scheppers. Expect four extra points from Lackey for getting the win.
Catcher – Matt Wieters, Orioles, $3,300
First Base – Mike Napoli, Red Sox, $3,400
Second Base – Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox, $4,100: See Xander Bogaerts and Mike Napoli.
Third Base – Yangervis Solarte, Yankees, $3,000
Shortstop – Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox, $3,300
Outfield – Michael Cuddyer, Rockies, $3,400
Outfield – Jacoby Ellsbury, Yankees, $4,300: Ellsbury is coming off a successful series against the Blue Jays batting 7-for-14. He also swiped two bases in the series but only had one RBI. Today he sees Ubaldo Jimenez who is known for his high ERA so expect Ellsbury to record a hit or two with a stolen base against the righty.
Outfield – Josh Hamilton, Angels, $3,500: In the Astros series, Hamilton has been killing the ball. He is 8-for-12 with two homeruns, five RBI’s, and four runs scored in the series. He is actually valued very low on FanDuel at $3,500 so it would be a shame to not have the hot batting Hamilton on your roster against the Astros.
