Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt
Good Value Players
Pitcher
Jason Vargas, Royals, $5,500: Vargas lasted six innings in his last start Wednesday, allowing six hits, three runs (two earned) and two walks with two strikeouts in a no-decision against the Indians. He has now surrendered two earned runs or less in each of his five starts this season, putting together one of the strongest Aprils of his career. He unfortunately exited in a tie game, rendering him incapable of picking up his third win of the year. Vargas is facing the Blue Jays today and looks to keep his hot hand going and seek another win.
Catcher
Kurt Suzuki, Twins, $3,100: The catcher for the Twins is driving in runs left and right. Even though Suzuki doesn’t impress anyone with his batting average or power, he already has 19 RBI’s this season. He only participated in 18 games this year so he is averaging over one per game and has 10 RBI’s in the past five games. Like I said, his power and average will not wow you but he shows up in clutch situations and delivers when the Twins need him to.
First Base
Lucas Duda, Mets, $2,900: If you are looking for a cheap option at first base that will produce, Duda is your man. He bats clean-up for the Mets so he is in prime position to drive in runs or smack the long ball. He recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games and also has four RBI’s and four runs scored in that span. Duda will face the Phillies and Cole Hamels today.
Second Base
Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox, $3,500: Pedroia is on fire in the FanDuel scoring system. It surprises me that he is relatively cheap which means we must have him in our lineups. Pedroia has positive points on FanDuel in his past 10 games which means he has been doing it all from getting on base to scoring and driving in runs. He matches up against the Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Erik Bedard who has been roughed up his last two outings giving up four runs in both games and not making it past the fourth inning. Pedrioa and the Sox should have themselves a day.
Third Base
Will Middlebrooks, Red Sox, $3,400: Middlebrooks has recently returned to the Red Sox lineup from a DL stint. He’s only played three games since returning and it seems like he never left with a homerun, three RBI’s and two runs scored. Middlebrooks too is facing Erik Bedard and I am picking him in my lineup basically for the same reason I have Pedroia in my lineup. Chances are that Middlebrooks stay hot and hit the ball around.
Shortstop
Erick Aybar, Angels, $3,300: Aybar had a monster night at the plate Friday, going 4-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double, and four runs scored in a blowout win against the Yankees. He hasn’t posted negative points on FanDuel for six straight games and it will not continue today. Aybar and the Angels will face the Cleveland Indians pitcher Corey Kluber who had an excellent game against the Royals in his last outing, going the distance and not surrendering a run. The games he started before that though were not so great and I expect him to return to the Kluber we all know.
Outfield
Austin Jackson, Tigers, $3,500: Jackson is on a five game hitting streak and stole his second base of the season in Saturday’s game where he also went 2-for-4 with a double. He has been playing very well for the Tigers and will look to continue his hot streak today when he matches up against the White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana who received two losses in his last two starts with a total of eight earned runs and 16 hits given up. Jackson will likely have a good day so have him on your team.
